Melbourne, Wednesday. Sailed this afternoon Rutorcabana for the BlafE. It is announced that Mr E. D. Holroyd, barrister, has been appointed to the Judgeship rendered vacant by the death of Mr Justice Stephen. Sydney, Wednesday. Two fresh cases of small-pox have been rsported to the authorities to-day. One is a sister of Treevole> commission agent, of Baltnain. A man named Hutton, who has been confined to the quarantine station as suffering from small-pox, died there yesterday. Thursday. Mrs Harris, the wife of tbG man Harris who died of smallpox at the Quarantine Station on the 7th instant, is now attacked with the disease, and has been removed into the infected enclosure. Adelaide, Wednesday. The Hon. L. Glyde, Colonial Treasurer, made his fioancial statement in the Legislative Assembly last night. He showed that the revenue during tbe past financial year amounted to £2,000,000, and the estimated revenue for the present year at £2,127,000, and the expenditure at £2,075,000, including £474,000 payable as interest on the public debt. The estimates of revenue include £550,000 from Customs, £531,000 from land, and £455,000 from railways. The railways are yielding 3J per cent on the cost of construction. The public debt amounts to £21,250,000. It is proposed during tbe year to raise another loan to bear interest at tbe rate of 3 per cent. The Treasurer further proposes to abolish the duty on tea, coffee, cocoe, chocolate, cornsacks, and woolpacks, but on the other hand he announced the intention of the Government to impose a tax of sixpence in the pound on land and property. Mr Glyde. in concluding his speech, hinted at tbe probability of an International Exhibition being held in Adelaide in about five years.
