Albany, Tuesday. The P & O company's ste amship Kaiser-i---hind arrived in King George's Sound this afternoon with the ioward English mails dated London Ist July, Melbourne, Tuesday. The Victorian Parliament was prorogued to-day, and will meet again on the 4th for tbe new session. New Zealand oats are to day quoted at 3-; 3d for common, and 3s 6d for gocd sorts. Sailed— s.s Hero, for New Zealand. Mr Marcus Clarke, Sub-Librarian of the Melbourne Public Lbary, and who is wellknown throughout the Australasian Colonies as a newspaper writer and author, died today at the age of 34 years. Sydney, Wednesday. No instructions hare yet been received by Admira 1 , the Earl of Clanwilliam, from the Admiralty regarding the future movements of the Detached Squadron, but it is understood that under any circumstances the vessel will not leave Sydney before the 10th instant. In the Legislative Assembly last night the Influx of Chinese Restriction Bill was read a third time and passed, and transmitted to the Legislative Council. Further medical examination of the boy residing in Barker's Lane in the city has resulted in his case being pronounced definitely one of small-pox. He has been removed with the other sufferers to the quarantine station.
