CORRESPONDENCE.

To the EmTon ojf the " Evening Mail." Sir— lmmediately after the recent fire a stir was made by tbe owners of property at the Port, in tbe direction of getting gocd gear for the Port Brigade, but in the short time that has elapsed it. has subsided, and it seems that nothing short of a destructive fire at the Port at some unfortunate's expense will put the matter right. Whether the Port Brigade has been very handsomely treated by the parent brigade or not is not now in question. Are the appliances at the Port trustworthy ? And will the Brigade turn out at a fire ? requires a prompt answer. I am, &c,. Insured.
