EDUCATION COMMITTEES.
The following results of the elections in the country districts have been forwarded to l : us:— Richmond :— The attendance of householders, on Mbnday evening was unusually large. Nine were nominated, and on the result of the ballot which followed being placed in the Chairman's hands by the scrutineer, he declared the following to be duly elected : — Messrs 0. Canning. J. Petrie, Rev W. A. Whyte, J. H Harknesß, W. Haikness, J. W. Barnicoatj and Gh B. Hurst. Stoke ': — The following were eleqted : — Messrs W. Rout, W. D. Cresswell, A. Harley, ftl. B. McDonagh, Chariea Ching, James Leighton, and Jofin Paynter, TWO others were nominated. The Committee afterwards met and elected Mr W. Rout as Chairman for the year and Mr W. D. Creßsvrell as Treasurer. Hope.— The election of a new School Committee for the Hope district took place on Monday evening last, at the Ranzan ichoolroom. Mr. F. Kelling, was voted to the chair; Mr. Kearni, the Secretary^ read th'e report and lmlanfce sheet for the past year. The following gentlemen were then eleetoi. for the ensuing year, without opposition:— Messrs. C. P. Kearns, W. Jesßop,sen., R. J.Mtl«olm. J. R. Hooper, W. Niemann, H. Laakevr, and F. Kelling. Waimea West j— At the bu «lin? of householders on Monday at Waimea West Village the following were duly elected aB members of the Education Committee :— Messrs W. Bell (chairman), C. Scbwass, R Disber, J. Price, P. Ford, A. B. Hall, and M Newth. Spring Grove. — The annual meeting of householders of this district was held at Brightwater on January 24th, the Ven Archdeacon Mulea in the chair, when the following householders were elected for the ensuing year • J. P.obertson, Thomas Carter, J. Arnold, T. Tunnicliff, J. McMurray, J. Hasen.and W. Forster. Upper Wakkfikld — A public meeting was held on Monday evening, January 24th, for the purpose of electing a Committee to act for the ensuing year :— The ballot resulted in the election of Messrs Jonathan Mears, William Wardsworth, Benjamin Cropp, Joseph Tunnicliff, Harry Batt, Elijah Griffiths, and James Pearee. Mr Pearse was appointed Chairman, anS Mr Griffiths Secretary; Fox Hill. — The following were eleoted as members of the School Committee for the ensuing year : — Messrs G. Holland, J. Holland, J. Price, J. Rutherford, T. Robertson, J. Thompson, and A. J. Palmer.
