Dec. 23, steamer Kennedy, 13G, Conway, for Wellington. Dec. 24, steamer Patea, 50, Gibbons, for Patea via Wellington.
Captain Edwin reported at 21 6 p.m. :— *' Indications of strong winds between north and west and south west. Glass will further fall, but rise after ten hours." Tbe Charles Edward leaves Hokitika for Greymouth to-day. The Murray arrived from Wanganui this morning, and leaves for Wellington direct at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The Wallace arrived from Wellington this morning. Sfee leaves on an excursion trip to the French Pass on Monday, and on Tuesday sails for West Coast ports at S p.m. The Patea arrived from Patea this morning with a cargo of live stock. She sailed for Wellington and Patea in the afternoon. The PengHin arrived at Wellington this morning, and was to leave there for Lyttelton at 1 p.m. The Wakatu arrived from Wanganui this morning, and leaves on an excursion trip to Wanganui and Wellington at 9 p.m. tomorrow. The Lady Barkly makes an excursion trip to Motueka on Monday, leaving here at 7 30 a.m., and there on the return trip at 5 p.m. Tbe Wanaka leaves Wellington at eight o'clock to-night, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail for Taranaki and Manukau by the sanse tide at 2 p.m. The Grafton leaves Wellington at eleven o'clock to-night, will arrive here to-morrow morning, and sail on an excursion trip to Wellington at 4 p.m. on Monday. No fewer than three steamers leave Wellington to-night with excursionists for Nelson—the Wanalca at eight, the Kennedy at nine, and the Grafton at clev n o'clock. The return fare in each case is £1 10s. The Rotomahana will be the next steamer for Sy'lney. She leaves Auckland on Tuesday, aad passengers will be forwarded to her by the Wauaka on Saturday. The steam launch Tainui. is advertised as being open for charter during the Christmas holidays at moderate rates. She is a comfortable little boat, steams at a good rate of speed, and carries an experienced engineer. Full .particulars as to charges, &c, can be obtained on board. The Kennedy arrived in harbor at 7.30 p.m. yesterday from West Coast ports. She left Nelson on Friday last at 1 p.m., arriving at Westport, after a very rough passage, at 12.30 pm. on Saturday ; sailed for Hokitika at midnight on Sunday, arriving there at Boon on Monday ; left on Tuesday at 11 p.m. for Greymouth, arriving there by the same tide at 1.30 p.m. ; discharged cargo, coaled, and-left at 2 p.m. on, Wednesday for West.port; arriving off the bar at 8 p.m., and. crossing it at' 11, p.m. ; sailed at 1;15 a.m yesterday, arriving, here as abdve. -Ex--perienced fine weather on the passage -up. j The Kennedy sailed for Wellington at 10 p.m., and reached there at 10 o'clock this ' morning. She leaves again at 9 o'clock tonight with excursionists, will arrive here, to-morrow morning, and sails at 10 p.m. on Monday for Wellington.
