APPARITIONS IN A. MONASTERY.
Father Ignatius haa written in a Hereford paper respecting certain alleged apparitions at , Llanthony* He says this, monastery was founded tan years ago in order to, afford the Church of England a house where men might consecrate themselves altogether to God in prayer> praise* ahd labor. Two very important ideas have attached themselves to this monastery. First, to offer reparation to oar Lord Jesus Christ for the insolte he has received in our Church and country sinoe the Reformation in the Holy Sacrament from the men who declare it is not His body ; whereas He Himielf declares "This is my body.*' On Monday, August SQ, the events tq.be recorded took place during the time. of adoration. Before the blessed Sacrament one person kneels in silent devotion for an hour before the shrine, after whicb another person takes bis place. 0" August 30, while the Senior Brother was before the shrine, all at once looking up, he saw distinctly the silver monitrance appear outside the wicket doors of the tabernacle. The monitrance is the vessel in which, the host is held at benediction. A sohpolmistre i is from' Moy saw the tame apparition. Neither pereoD is of an imaginative turn of. mind. The same evening four boys were playing , obi *h& reoreation ground after vespers, when one came came up to Father Igoatius> saying, "Dear father, we have J oaf seen ; «ucti, a beautiful spirit in AbbotiVMeadow.'* He r epifp4, "Ok, npnAenseilV an3 re-; sumed .whst he waa about, when other boy a came and confirmed ihe^ statement, saying they hfid :'.'■?!? Jk* l fi g u r e of a Woman dressed in a white albe, hands both raised, and from head to feet ebe was dawling white, and a light oval shape was shining round the body. The apparition stalked through the meadow. A boy . named , Foord, frightened, caught up a stick! and said! he wbulcl strike it if . it ; came', nsat, him., Tfye figure, however, entered the hedge and remained standing in it. The boys afterwards, on strict examination, stuck to the same; details, one saying he believed he saw the blessed Virgin Mary, Father Ignatius adds that" theße are extraordinary but absolute facts". That the two apparitions occurred on the same day seems most marvellous, as thpueh God iqtendßone to corroborate the other. Letters corroborative of the above statement are also published in the same paper, containing [extracts from the sermon of another; ; bribery and extracts from ab.Qy's.lettjer* -. ■
