SHOCKING TRAGEDY IN MELBOURNE. ANOTHER LARGE FIRE IN SYDNEY. Melbourne, Sunday. A terrible tragedy took place at the Opera House during the performance on Saturday night, when a young Irishman named Grier shot his wife and a Frenchman named Londray, and afterwards shot himself. The cause of tbe act was jealousy of Londray. All are dangerously wounded, Grier being mortally so. Monday. 8 It is stated that Mr Mclntyre who was a candidate for Sandhurst in the Ministerial interest at the late election, intends suing
the Age for £&000 damages for saying that he was bought over by tbo Government by giving his son an appointment. Sydney, Sunday. An extensive fire occurred in GeorgeBtreet at midnight on Saturday, when the establishment of Gordon and Gotcb, the well-known news agents, and other premises adjoining were totally destroyed. The total loss is estimated at £10 000. There are heavy insurances on the buildings. Monday. The insurances on the George street property include £1000 in the New Zealand Company. Boakee, photographer's, next to Gordon and Gotch's was also destroyed by fire.
