Ths Falmouth Election. — The Falmouth Times m an aru'ole ou tho recent election _n_ke3 the following re-marks:—-"Oa both sides the contest was fought with an earnestness' a. if the destinies of the kingdom depended upon it— a zeal amply justified at this crisis of the country. The Conservative leaders claimed a majority of promises, and professed to be cartaia of putting in their two men. We bs. lieve th»t the claim was made in *ood faith by them — vre h'jve uot the slfgb .- est doubt that the returns which they received from their runners were of the mo3t fldtteiiag kiod, and we equally believe they were foundationless. That there was a whoi.Bale breaking of pledges at the ballot-box in favor of the Liberal candilates, as some in their disappointment have stated to have occurred in order to account for their defeat, we do not believe for a moment ; we kuow our fellow-voters throughout the constituency well enough to believe such a tbing to be impossible. To the Tories the result of the election is assuredly a great disappointment and mortificatien. The plausible promises of Sir Julius Yogel, aud the " winning raauners " of Lady Yogel, who is said to have *« endeared herself to many of the inhabitants," utterly failed to secure the end whicb was so earnestly desirad ; neither was the eloquence wit, sarcasm, or sophistry of Mr Mayne exerted with any better effeot.
