PURE VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage oi U his Majesty the King of Italy, at Borne, according to communication received irom the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instructions from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. ; We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucalj ptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, the consequences would not be serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— The eucalyptus oil is recorded to be of value 8B a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the sis in. Any blistering brought en by the application of & medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprains, etc., the curative power oi our extract on the named diseased being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased * The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to comaon turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and healing in its effects, its price beicg twenty -four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, the genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce viale ; * viala bearing on the labels' our trade mark and signature.
