THE RACE FOR THE OAKS,

London, May 28. The race for the Oaks took place to-day, and resulted as follows :—

The Home team who, at the close of the first day's play, had eight wickets down for 45 runs, resumed their innings and were soon all disposed of for 92 runs. Boyle, for the Australians, howled splendidly and took ten of the Rochdale wickets. The Australians then went in and when the stumps were drawn for the day, bad seven wickets down for 194 runs. Macdonald had contributed 99 towards this score when he was given out, leg before wickets. His innings was a very fine one.

At present, it is stated that the questions to be discussed will be limited to those connected with the Greek frontier, but whether the Conference will extend its dsliberations to other questions is at present uncertain.

Constantinople, May 29. The Right Hon Mr Goschen has arrived to assume the position of Special Ambassador from Great Britain to the Porte.
