We are* informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our Eucal? ptus Extract. So far as the committing of imposition against the public in- such a case is concerned, ths consequences, would hot be' serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many CBSes directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts :— ■ The eucalyptus oil ia recorJed to be of value as a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon the sHn. Any blistering brought on by the applies-; tion of a medicament must increase inflammstion, . and it is therefore evident that in caseßof wonnds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, sprainejretc., the curative power oi our extract on the named diseases being unquestionably proved by former publications in this paper. An application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased' . . The truth of our assertion ia founded upon the^fact that the oil is a reßinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, soothing and" healing in its effects, its price being twenty-four > shillings for one pound weight Our extract', tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature.
