SAILED. g May 22, steamer Lyttelton, 86, Scott, for Blenheim. — steamer Taiaroa, 328, Pietersen, for Wellington, Taranaki, and Manukau. 24, steamer Lady Barkly, 30, Walker, for Motueka. The Lyttelton sailed for Blenheim at 10 o'clock on Saturday night. The Murray arrived from Wellington yesterday. 1 morning, and sails for West Coast ports at 11 a.m. to morrow. - The Patea arrived here from Patea at 10 o'clock last night. - - . " . The Wjakatu arrived from Wanganui yesterday* afternoon^ having lef t._thati port on : . Saturday night. She brings a cargo of cattle. The Dido arrived here from Oamaru last night with a cargo of flour for Mr R. Levien. The Lady Barkly, sailed on an excursion trip to Motueka this morning with a fair number of passengers. The'Wanaki leaves Wellington this afternoon, xtill arrive, here to-morrow morning, and sail for Picton, Wellington, and South by the same tide at 930 a.m. The Wellington, which has been in the Graving Dock at Port Chalmers for some time past undergoing an overhaul, will now take up her old running. She leaves Dunedin for Northern ports this afternoon. The Taiaroa sailed for Wellington, Taranaki, and Manukau, with the outward San Francisco mail, at 4 30 p m. on Saturday, and arrived at the former port yesterday morning. After taking on board the Southern portion of the mail, she started for New Plymouth in the afternoon, and should reach Onehunga to-morrow morning. The mail steamer leaves Auckland for San Francisco at three p.m. ; ~~-The 7 harbor-master at Oamaru reports that on the 15th lost, an iron mooring buoy broke adrift from the roadstead and set seaward in an easteily direction. Vessels navigating between Bank's Peninsula and Oamaru should keep a good look out to avoid colliding with the buoy. . The British barque Orient, which arrived recently iv Liverpool from San Francisco, was struck by a whale on the 25th Dec, while off Cape Horn. The whale struck the • ship on the port bow, between the 8 and 19 feet marks, broke two beams of the 'tween .forecastle deck, and also broke a part of the deck and bilged in the bulkhead.
