PURS VOLATILE EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS EXTRACT TTNDER the Distinguished Patronage oi \J his Majesty the Ring of Italy, at Rome, according to communication received from the Consul-General for Italy, at Melbourne, upon instruction* from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 14th March, 1878. We are informed that dealers in medicine often try to sell the eucalyptus oil found in the trade instead of our-'Eucah ptus Extract. Ho far as the committing of imposition against the public in such a case is concerned, ths cohBC-quences would not b 3 serious ; but as the qualities of both of the products are in many cases directly opposed to one another, we consider it our duty to direct the public attention to the following facts : — eucalyptus oil ia recorJed to be oi value aa a medicament in cases of rheumatism of secondary nature, and manifests a drawing, blistering effect upon tbe si in. Any blistering brought c n by the application ot a medicament must increase inflammation, and it is therefore evident that in cases of wounds, colds, bronchitis, diphtheria, croup, Bprains, etc.. the curative power oi our extract on the named diseases beinsr unquestionably, proved by former publications in this paper. Aa application of the oil instead of our extract must impair the diseased* The truth of our assertion is founded upon the fact that the oil is a resinous product equivalent to common turpentine, its market value being about three shillings one pound weight ; our extract consists of the evaporating particles of the gum leaves, Boothing and houling in its effects, its price being twenty -four shillings for one pound weight. Our extract, tbe genuine article is only made up in half-ounce and one-ounce vials ; vials bearing on the labels our trade mark and signature. PRINTING of EVERY DESCRIPTION I executed on the Most Reasonable Tebms, by R LUCAS & SON, at the Evening Mail Office, Bridge-st., Nelson. •' Lives of grf at men all remind us, We can make our lives sublime ; .And departing, leave behind ub Footprints on the sands of time. 1 ' THE above is read with great interest by thousands of young men. It inspires j them with B opk, for in the bright lexicon of youth there is no such word as fail Al«s ! gay many, this is correct — is true with regard to the youth who hss never abused his strength— and to the roim who has not been " passion's slave." But to that youth— to that man who has wasted his vigor, who has yielded himself up tr> the temporary sweet allurements of vice, who has given unbridled license to bis passions to him the above lines are but as a reproach What hope can he have ? What aspirations ? What chance ot leaving his footprints on the eandß of time ? For him, aks, there is nought but dark despair and eelf-reproach for a hst life For a man to leave his footprints on the sands of time, he must be endowed with a strong brain srid nervous power. He must possess a Etrong, vigorous, healthy mind in a healthy body— the power to conceive ■— the energy to execute 1 But look at our Australian youth I See the emaciated form, the vacant look, the listless hesitating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanor a^d conversation, and then s*y, Is that a oaan to leave his footprints on the sands of time. Do parent*, medical men, and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this subject ? Do they ever aecettain the cause of this decay ? and having done so, do they (as a Btxict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advice of the medicJ tn&n, »h > has made this branch of his profef sion his particular speciality, whoß9 life has been devoted to the treatment of theso cas.g ? Reader, what is your answer ? Let each ore answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fadirg gradually before their Eight. Bee them become emaciated, old young men, broken down in health, enfeebled, uifltted for the battle of ife ; yet one word inigh save them, one lound and vigorous health-giving letter from a medical man, habituated to the treatment and continuous supervision Gt such cedes, w- uld in most instances succeed in warding off the impending doom of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore the enervated sj stem to its natural vigor, and ensure a joyous and happy life. Dr. L. L. SMITH, ol Melbourne, has made the diseases of youth and those arising therefrom his peculiar study. Bis vhole profes sionalllfe has been especially devoted to. the treatment of Nervous affections and the Diseases incidtntal to Married Life. His si ill is available to all— no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His system of correspondence by letter is now so well organised and known, that comment would be superflous— (by this means many thousands of patients have been cured, whom he has never seen and never known); nnd it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though he has been practising this branch of his profession for twenty-six years In these colonies, no single instance of accidental discovery has ever yet happenei. When medicines are required, these ara forwarded in the fame cartful manner, without a possibility ot U c contents of the parcels being discovered. Plain and clear directions accompany these latter, end a cure is effected without even the ph}6ician knowing who is his patient. To Men and Women wi;h Broken-down Constitutions, the Nervous and Dtbilitated, all euffering from any disease whatever, Dr. U I/. gmith'B plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding as it does th? inconvenience and expense of a personal visit. .
