BLTNDSEfS AND DEAFNKBS. We can conscientiously reco mm and three s iffering from deofnesa or other uilmsnts that Dr Grant has made ft opetiil study of, to pay him a vii.lt, when, if curable patients, they may certainly expect relief. An instance came under our tpfcial notice on Thursday, in tin- cape of a man nanvd Ohss. Swansor, who haa been very deaf for three years, but after ten days' treatment, can now he r pe«fecth even tho k west whisper. The cure is rather a remarkable one, kb he has been under the c&ta of roanv medical men, but he received no benefit whatever from th ir treatment — " IS'ew Z inlander t " December 27, 1879. By the kind invitation of Profe-eor Wallenburgand Dr. Gra t, the editor o>' tlii 1 ? jourra t ir. fompany with the editor of the Saturday Advertiser, visited their < onsulting rooms. 1 1 the Criterion Hotel, yesterday morning. The first caie fhown wae that of a Miss White aged 1 1 years, the daughter of a settler at Oamatu who haß been totally blind* for ytars, This young lady has been under the treatm nt of these clever oculists tor three diya, and, wo- derfal to Bay, her eyesight has been perfectly restored. The father of the girl assured us th^t he had placed her under the rare of several naeriical men, who had failed to do her any good, despite the money he lavished upon her. The next was the casa of a ]V- ; is3 Hughes, a Dunedin resident, who stated that sbe bad been deaf for a period of over three years. Strange to sav, she had only been under treatment for eight dajs, and her hearing ha9 been fully restored. Tbis fortunate girl is nearly in ecstae'es over her good fortune. The editor of this journal, accompanied by Mr. J. J. Connor, visited the oculists' consulting-rooms at the Criterion Hotel this morning. The first person tte editor conversed with was Daniel Muhoney, a laborer, residing at Logan's Point, who stated that he ha 1 been totally blind for eome two weeks, through a severe cold he had contracted. He had been under privnte treatment ior a week, but he had got worse instead of letter. He was brought to Professor Wallenbuvg on tho 11th inst., an! since then he haß been under thir clever oculist's treatment, with the result that i.e s now recovering the s^ght of both ejes. John Chalmers, a brickmaker, residing at Peli'ihet Bay, stated that he bad been blind of the right eye for over nine week?, and the le't one was com» mencing to ba affected by the right one. He was under treatment at the hoßpital, but without any beneficial result. Be hud been under Professor Wallenburg's treatment three weeks, and he now can discern the smallest object with both eyes. Patrick Connor, a miner, residing at Hinrfon, was the next ratient consulted. He had been totally blind of the right eye for three months, and had. been in the hospital unier tnatmo -t, which, he states, tended to make the right eye worse, and to injure the l.ft one. He wtnt under Professor Wallenburg's treatment on the 9th October, and now ha is perfectly cured, and intends starting to follow his ca'liog on Monday next. — Tuapeka Times, 15:h JVovember, 1879. Cut of gratitude to those gentteistn, al'ow me to thank them, and hope all those Bufftrirg in the eyes may avail themselves of their skill —I am, &c , Patrick Fbakois. Witness— W. J. Bawden, Logan' Foint, Duntdin, 7th "October, 1879, Dr Grant haß recently effected a very remarkable cure in the caee oi Mrs D.
