FEARFUL LOSS OF LIFE. Loxdon, December 29. Daring a heavy gale a portion of the Tay Bridge was destroyed and a train proceeding from Edinburgh to Dundee, while crossing I shortly afterwards, fell through the casing of j the bridge into the river and enormous loss ' of life ensued. Although exact particulars have not yet been received it is feared that < 200 persons are drowned. The Empress Eugenic proceeds to Zululand in February.
