The total wool clip of the world last year Was about 1, 496.500.0001b. This, when scoured, would yield about 852,000,0001b dean wool. The clip for 1873 was smaller than for 1877 by !< I,ooo ,oo<>lb. The War Office authorities have bit upon a marvellous range finder lately. General Younghusband hna the credit of it. Working on the basis of the It«lfon one, he has made such improvements that in recent experiments it was found possible? at the first shot to hit a boat three miles out at sea.
