Invehcargill, Friday night. In the Mataura arson case, McLeddon and Duncan Cameron admitted setting fire to the building, acting on instructions from D. Mackay, a well-known contractor. It was shown that Mackay had purchased the buildin? for £20, and removed it for abont £30, and insured it for £275 on a two months' policy. The case was adjourned. Bail was applied for on behalf of Mackay, charged as an accessory, but was refused. Wellington', Friday. Robert Salisbury, recently from Kaikoura, was fonnd dead in his bed in the National Hotel this morning. He went to bed about nine last night, got up at half past six and had a drink and went to bed again, and when called for breakfast was found dead. In order to get at the tradesman who successfully contested his right to expose articles for sale on the footpath on the ground that his house stood back some teet from the street boundary, the Corporation have determined to call upon him to feuce that spare ground according to the regulations. The imports for last quarter were £2,474,638, and for the corresponding quarter of last year, £2,603,730. The exports last quarter were £690,888, and for the corresponding quarter of 1878 £882,295. FIRE AND LOSS OF LIFE AT DUNEDIN Dunedijt, Friday night. At a fire at O'Brien'3 dairy in Great Kingstreet, a boy four years old and a girl aged three years were burnt to death.
