[PRESS AGENOY.! Wellington, Tuesday. It ia reported that the second Resident Magistrate for Wellington will be Mr Matthew Piice, lately a warden on the West Ceast. Mr George Darrell was yesterday served with a writ for £2000 at the instance of the proprietors of the Saturday Advertiser for an Alleged libel contained in a handbill published here. Mr Darrell is about to issue a counter writ against the Advertiser for £5000 Cable news from Home states that the new steamer Rotomahana left London on the 9th inst. She is expected to arrive at Melbourne on the 24th September. Auckland, Tuesday. The Bay of Islands Coal Company's report ■hows that 19,848 tons of coal were sold during the last half year. The mail steamers now use the coal. A dividend of ten per ce_*fc was declared. About a dozen trucks were thrown off the Waikato hne through running over a cow. No injury was done to the passengers
