The sittings of the Court of Appeal commence on Monday next. There are ouly three cases, one from Auckland and two from Wellington. It appears that Walters, who was a partner with Gleich, the Adelaide absconder, ia now doing a term of imprisonment at Pentridge. The election for the Mayor takes place on the 27th iustant. The total insurances are: -New Zealand, £200; South British, £1000; Transatlantic, £100; National, £660; other i offices, £1000. The Colonial Office declined to reinsure. Timarc, Wednesday. Thomas Keenan was fined £20 yeßterday by the Resident Magistrate for sly grog selling. It is expected that a criminal prosecution will result from the case.
