Melbourne, Saturday. It is stated that Weiberg has been seen at Waratah Bay. A resident of the district informed the detectives that Weiberg had been seen by a mounted constable; but had effected hi 3 escape. Sunday. An attempt has been made to shoot Mouck, wbo assisted in recovering the bodies of the policemen murdered by Kelly's gang. Three shots were fired and his horse was wounded. Monck narrowly escaped. Monday. Mr Berry telegraphs that he has bad his final interview with Lord Beaconsfield and Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, and has obtained the decision of tbe Cabinet that the Imperial Government decline to legislate at the present juncture. They propose that Mr Berry sball submit the issue to the country, and, if tbat fails, the Home Government will invite Parliament to amend the constitution. Tbe Treasury have consented to reduce the Imperial sbare of postage to twopence. Mr Berry proposes to accept the P. and O. Company's tender, and the Cabinet have authorised him to sign the contract. The Embassy returns on the 7th May.
