In the House cf tiords in reply to a question Lord K>a'nbrook said the Government had received no uews from India which in any way confirmed the reported rupture in the Afghan negotiations. Lord Beaconsfield in the House of Lords said an enquiry into the cause of the present depression in trade and agriculture could not have any practical result, but possibly an enquiry into the effects of the depreciation in the value of silver might hereafter become necessary. The Queen has arrived in Italy. March 29. The first reinforcement s for the Zulu, campaign were lahded at Natal on the sth inst/, and the remainder will disembark oh the lutb. The relief of Ekouro will shortly be attempted. The 2ulus have made overtures of peace. An attack by the Basutus has been repulsed.
