The Nelson Evening Mail. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 1879. NELSON AND WEST COAST RAILWAY.
We received the following telegram from Wellington this afternoon just before going to press: — "Messrs Curtis and Shephard were informed this morning by the Minister for Public Works that the ten miles extension of tbe Foxbill Railway will be pushed on as speedily as the department's circumstances will allow, and that tenders will be called for shortly, otherwise the vote would be allowed to lapse. Mr Baird, C.E., goes to Nel-
soe in the middle of March to report on the best practicable* route to the West Coast, aud a permaneutlengineer is to be appointed to supeiintend tbfe line. The Pore 'ice will be completed immediately Mr Baird "reports on it."
