(horae ehof), Al.yg.iur, Agra, Kuuoy (horse sabre i), and Bundhera, whero he narrowly escaped capture while reconnoitriug; present in the skirmishes prior to and throughout the operations connected with the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde; operations at Cawnpore fmm 28th November to 6h December, 1857 and defeat of Gr wslior Contiogen?, Motion of Kb-* ds.unge, r_-ooeup*-tion of Futfe.'hur, slormirg of -V_-a-:-*_og-, aciion of Kooreee, a_d the various operations ending with ths c.pure of Lucknow; thanked by the Governor-Geceia", Victoria-. CiOsa, Brevet Mjor, medal with threa ciaso. ; --.a-ploye*! on special service with tlie expedition of 1863 against the tribts on north-west fioatier of India, and was present at the storming of L_loo and capture of Umbeylah, and destruction of Mulkah ; med_l with clasp; served with tha Abyssinian camp-igu from January, 1868, as A.ei-tant Quart.t*rmftßtcr-(.Tcnerul, with the Bengal Bri^ode, and us -senior officer of ths department at Zoulla, superinteudended ihe embarkation of the whole army; was .elected hy Sir Robert Napier as the bearer of his final despatches (Brevet Lt-Color.el aud medal); served as Assistant Quarter-master-Genera! and Senior Staff Officer with tbe Cacher column, Loos-hat expeditionary field force, in 1871-72, and was preseut at the capture of the Kholel vilages and attack ou northern range ; commanded the troops engaged at the burning of the village of Taikoom, January 26, 1872 (CB ); has been twent-three times mentioned in dispatches; especially selected by the Go-vernor-General of India fo command tho expeditionary force assembled at Tbull to operate in Kurum Valley during the present war.
