CRICKET MATCH.

WAKEFIELD CLUB V. NORMANBY. The return match between the above Clubs came off on Saturday last in Victory Square, the Wakefield Club on this occasion being victorious. Messrs S. Fowler and H. Halliday captained the respective teams, aud the latter winning the toss decided to go to the wickets. Play commence i at 1040, H. Halliday and Naylor handling the bat to the bowling of T. and ;\V. Eden. Halliday opened with a single off T. Eden, and Naylor did likewise. The bowling was well on, the batting good, but runs came slowly. The score was taken to 17 when Naylor was bowled out by T. Eden. C. Halliday filled the vacancy, but quickly retired before the Spring Grove « Emmett "— Silcock — who was bowling vice W. Eden. The wickets now fell quickly, and with the score ac 32 Halliday retired before Silcock, having played well for 20. Wigzell and Greenfield carried the score to 53, when Wigzell succumbed to G. Fowler, and with the score at 56 the last wicket fell. The Normanbys were soon in the field, and the Wakefield team was represented by Arnold and W. Eden at the wickets to the bowling of Wigzell and C. Halliday. Both bowlers were well on the spot, but the batsmen were equal to the occasion and played steadily till the score stood at 6, when Naylor at cover point by a smart piece of fielding ran out Eden. E. Fowler joined Arnold, and maidens were the order of the day, but Wigzell managed to get one past Fowler at last, and the score stood at 2—14. Arnold was shortly afterwards well caught by Curtis at mid-off. 3 — 15. The two teams now retired for lunch, Host Leech having prepared a capital spread, to which full justice was done. Play was resumed at 130, S. Fowler filling Arnold's place. The batting now was very good as well as the bowling, and although a wicket fell occasionally Fowler made such a grand stand that no less than six bowlers were tried before the last wicket fell, Fowler having made 59 off his own bat, not out. The bowling was first-class, but the whole team batted carefully and well. After a few minutes rest the Wakefield team again took the field, H. Halliday and Curtis, the not out, haudling the bat. A steady stand was made, both batsmen playing well, but with the score at 36 Curtis was unfortunately run out for a well played 1 2. Naylor filled the vacancy, and the score was run up to 53, when he was dismissed by a trimmer from T. Eien. The next two wickets fell a'most immediately, and at 56 Foy joined Halliday, at 73 he was bowled by T. Eden, and at 75 Halliday gave an easy chance to Price, which he accepted, Haliday havig played a capital innings for 41. 6—75. The remaining wickets were not long in falling, and the last batsman was well caught by Eden off his own bowling. It was now half-past six, and although it was impossible to play the match out, the Normanbys again took tne Held, Arnold and W. Eden representing the Wakefield team. Wigzell was again well on, but when time was called the score stood, o—7. Some first-clasa cricket was shown on
