Oamaru, Friday. The grain and breadstuffs market is quiet, very few transactions taking place. Wheat. 3s 6d to 3s lOd ; oats, 3s 8d to 4s ; barley unobtainable ; flour, £10 to £10 10s ; oatmeal, £20 ; pearl barley, £24 ; pollard, £5 5s ; bran, £o; potatoes, £5 10 to £G.
CimisTCHtincii, Friday. The wheat market is dull, 4s to 4s Gd ; f.0.b., nominal quotations; oats, firm at 4s 3d to 4s Gs, demand brisk : flour, £11 to £12, dull; bran, £5 ss; sharps, £G; cheese, 6.}d; butter, wanted; potatoes, £5. The price is likely to recede as the season advances. Hams aud bacon, 7.\d in cloth.
Saturday. Alexander Mority, an Austrian, and master of the ketch Minnie, was arrested on a charge of stabbing a seaman on board the same vessel in the face and shoulders. The prosecutor not being present the case was remanded.
Timaru, Friday. The stranded brigantine Lapwing was successfully floated this morning, and is now berthed at the anchorage in the harbor. A tug is expected from Duuedin to take her to Port Chalmers for repairs. An attempt will also be made to float the schooner Glimpse, which, there is every reason to believe, will be successful.
Westport, Saturday. In making a survey of a new road at Mohikinui iu the Buller County the surveyor struck a coal seam five feet thick, two mile3 from the township. The coal is bituminous, of excellent quality and easily accessible and may be brought to port at a small cost.
Wkllixgtox, Saturday. The barque Courier, which has been purchased by a Company has been fitted out for a trading expedition to the North-east coast of New Guiuea, and will leave to-morrow or with the first favorable wind.
