The Charles Edward sailed for Pic-ton and Wellington last evening with the San Francisco mail. The Murray wiil arrive here from West Coast ports to-morrow, aud sail for Wellington on Monday evening. It is expected that the barque Elizaheth, about which there has been so ranch talk lately in Wellington, will be sold by auction. The Tararua will arrive here on " Tuesday, and leave for Melbourne via West Coast ports the same day. The Alhambra sailed for Wellington, South, and Melbourne shortly after eleven o'clock last evening, and arrived at the former port this morning. She leaves there for Lyttelton to-morrow. The Wellington arrived from Picton and Wellington at 10.30 this morniDg. She left Wellington at G. 30 p.m. yesterday and reached Picton at 11.30; sailed at 2 o'clock this morning, and arrived here as above. The Wellington sails for Picton and Wellington at 10 o'clock to-night. The Kvik has finished discharging cargo, and taken in a quantity of potatoes'. On Monday she will take in a little ballast, as the quantity of potafoes— l2o tons— she takes as cargo will not be sufficient for ballast. Captain Lareen expects to sail for Newcastle on Tuesday. We understand that it is the intention of Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood & Co. to establish a coal depot in New Zealand. The Bluff, on account of its being the first and last port of call, is to be selected as the station. At present the steamers belonging to that firm have to take in their supply of coal at Wellington and Port Chalmers. Had the Claud Hamilton on her last trip to Melbourne been compelled to put back again she would have had to go on to Port Chalmers to get her bunkers replenished, which would have meant a littie expense, to say nothing of the loss of time. It is the intention of the firm to keep one of their steamer* probably the Omeo, running between Newcastle and the Bluff.
