The Murray arrived at Hokitika to-day. The Charles Edward leaves Westport for Nelson to-night. The Wallace leaves Wanganui to-night. The Lyttelton is lying outside the Wairau bar, which at present is impassable. There is no news yet of the arrival of the Alhambra at Hokitika. The Taranaki will arrive here to-night from New Plymouth, and Bail for Wellington and South to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock. She leaves there on the return trip at 6 p.m. on Friday, with the football team, and will anive here on Saturday morning. The Kvik hauled alongside the Albion Wharf this morning, and commended discharging the remainder of her cargo— about 150 tons. She will take a quantity of potatoes for Newcastle, for which port she will sail at the beginning of next -week. The barque Columbus, which arrived at Lyttelton the other day, is under the command of Captain Esson, who, ifc will be remembered, was chief officer of the ship Michael Angelo on her visit to Neleon in 1875, and who brought that vessel here after the death of Captain Luckie. The telegraph was silent last week regarding the arrival of the Stella and Maori at Westport, The former arrived there two days after leaving here, havine had to run into Totaranui for shelter. A telegram has been received to-day stating thatj.be Taiaroa is not to call here on Friday as advertised, as she is to be sent up the East Coast in place of the Wanaka. In consequence of this alteration the San Francisco mail will be forwarded to Wellington by the Wallace on Friday night to meet the- Rotorua, which sails from there for Auckland on Saturday.
