UPPER MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.

The Board met on Saturday last, May 11. All the members were present except Mr Symee. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Tenders were received for the following works, and tbe lowest tender in each cuie was accepted :— - Forming, Tadraor Valley :— Highest tender, H. Hodgkinson, lump sum, £26; lowest, W. Boy,!, £17 9a Forming, Motueka Valley : Highest tender, N. Samson, lump sum, £28 , lowest, J. Flower, £14. Sidecutting, Dovedale Road : Highest tender, W. Griffith, per ohain, £2 10s ; lowest, W. Einzett, £1 10s. Resolved, that a sum not exceeding £7 be expended in diverting the Tadmor river from the road at the boundary of the properties of Messrs Needham and Hodgkinßon j that tenders be invited for gravelling about eight chains of the road leading to Mr F. Mean's residence ; also, that tenders be invited for the supply of timber for, and the making and fitting in of, culverts on the road between Motueka c Valley and Nicholson's Well. Resolved, That the Secretary be directed to acquaint the Minisier for Public Works with the present state of the part of the road from Nelson to Westport and Greyrnoutb, lying within this road district. The returns required by the Minister for Public Works and the Registrar General were read. The latter return showed that there were in the road district 76 dwellings (exclesive of the Tadmor diggings, huts, and tents), 94 ratepayers, 106 rateable properties ; annual value of rateable property, £2681 j rate levied. The above 144 milea of road form the total of the following list of main and district roads : — Nicholson's well to Buller river, (main), 32 ; Buller road junction to | Waimea boundary, Dovedale line, (main) 13; Buller road junction to Wangapeka reef, main, 24 ; Rae'a Saddle to Big Bueh, nanin, 16 ; Boiler road junction to RRe's Valley, 6 ; Wungapeka road to Baton, 8 ; Taylor's, Baton, to Motu►ka road districi, boundary, 8 ; Eawcett's Tadmor, up Tndmor Valley, 4 ; Pbillipa's, Sherry, up Sherry Valley,' 4 ; Stanley Brook to Pigeon Valley Hill. 8 ; Stanley Brook crossing to Flowers' Saddle (new road), 6 ; Dovedale road down Stanley Brook, 2 ; Dovedale road down Motueka Valley,' 2; Newport's up Motupiko Valley to Ken's 9 ; Sherry junction up Slippery Creek, 2. 3 Kesolved, That next meeting be held on Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m. Accounts were passed and paid amounting to £626 9s 9d.
