During Mr Blackett'sexamination he took exception to one item of £1011 I ;set down as an extra, saying that it belonged to the original contract, and ought not to be an extra. The contractor thereupon enclose! the cheque in dispute to the Mayor pending the conclusion of the investigation, remarking thaif he did not wish to be paid a penny ;more than he was entitled to.
