CANTERBURY RACE MEETING.
The Racecoubse, Tuesday. The Derby, a sweepstake of 15 sovs, with a sweepstakes of 150 sovs added —Mr Fraser's Trump Card (Fuller), 1; Mr Baker's Mireille (Ray), 2; Mr Reeves' Chancellor (Cotton), 3. Mufti and Chokebore also rau. Foul Play, Puriki, and Mata were scratched. Betting, 2 to 1 on Trump Card, 4 to 1 agst Mireille. Mireille got a flying start with a good lead, Chaucellor second, the rest close up. They were ail together at the second turn, and at the half distance Trump Card went to the front and won easily by three lengths. Time, 2 mins 47secs. Canterbury Jockey Club Haudicap of 500 sovs; two miles — Mr Redwood's Mata (Clifford;, 1; Mr Farmer's Ariel (Matthews), 2; Mr Hay's Danebury (Ray), 3. Puuga, Maritana, Louglauds, Oberou, aud Foul Play also rau. A good race ensued till the last turn, when Mata came away aud won easily. Time, 3mins 45£secs. The Racecourse, Wednesday, 1-40 p.m. The Metropolitan Race Meeting was continued to-day. The weather is threatening, but there is an immense attendance, Maiden Plate of 100 sovs. Weight forage. I-« miles— Mr Webb's Jangler (Clark), 1 ; Mr Delainain's Oberon (Clifford), 2 ; MiRedwood's Chokebore (M'Coakey), 3. Mirielle also ran. Betting, 5 to 4 on Mirielle. It was a splendid race to the rails, when Jangler came away aud won by two lengths. Time, 2nn'n. 46£sccs. 2.45 p.m. A meeting of the Jockey Club this morning disqualified Matthews, the rider of Bribery in the Railway Plate yesterday, for oue year. Canterbury Cup of 500 sovs, added to a sweepstake of 20 sors. Two aud a quarter miles-Mr Farmer's Ariel (Lyford), 1; Mr Fraser's Trump Card (Clark), 2; Mr Bedwood's Mata (Clifford), 3. Templeton and Chancellor also rau. Betting, eveu onTruiup Card and Mata, 4to 1 against Ariel. Chancellor led for three quarters of a mile, and Trump Card then went up and Chancellor fell back beaten. Trump Card, Ariel, and Mata kept together till Hearing the rails, when Ariel came away and won by 3 lengths. Time, 4 mins 1^ sees. The Spring Steeplechase Handicap of 100 sovs was won by Royalty.
