The route to Gabrova alone is open. The Roumanian division has been ordered to operate in the rear of Plevna. August 31. The Russians report their loss at Shipka Pass to be 2480 wounded, including 95 officers. The number of killed is unknown. The Turkish strength at Plevua is reported to be 75,000 meu, and 200 guns. The mail steamer left Galle for Australia on the 29th of August.
