[Br Reoter's Submarine Cable.]' LATEST FROM THE SEAT OF WAR. Bombat, Wednesday. A despatch from Sulieman Bey, dated August 26th, says that there had been ten days indecisive fighting, duriug which the Russians were attacked unsuccessfully. The Turks held positions dominating the Russian line of retreat. The Russian loss was 4,000 111 killed alone. A Russiau official despatch, dated August m, l '' I 'm^' s : — " c m!l i»tain our positions, lhe lurks hold the adjoining heights." The Russians are massing before Plevna. A Russian official despatch says thafc the Turkish firing on Sunday afternoon and Monday was feeble. The Porte has complained to England of the Greek armaments, and Turkey threatens to send- troops to attack Athens in the event ot a rising in Thessaly. England has remonstrated with Greece, who sent the Porte a pacific note. August 30. A despatch from. Sulieman Bey says that his entrenchments are 150 Daces from the Russiau positions. The route to Gabrova alone is open. The Roumanian division has been ordered to operate in the rear of Plevna. August 31. The Russians report their loss at Shipka Pass to be 2480 wounded, including 95 officers. The number of killed is unknown. The Turkish strength at Plevua is reported to be 75,000 meu, and 200 guns. The mail steamer left Galle for Australia on the 29th of August.
