The following remarks on the temperance question appear in a leading article in the Lancet ot March 24:— <• It is humbling to see six hundred leading and legislating men of England engaged for two nights in the discussion of an evil so general, and withal so growing, and able to devise nothing so well as excuses for it, and reasons for letting it alone. There are some indications that the public will not long brook this feeble and helpless treatment of the most important of all the most social questions, and will demand that a little more respect be paid to its interests and wishes There may not always be an Eastern Question to cover the humiliating impotence of home legislation. The news of the cruel slaughter of Christians which reaches us daily is assuredly most heartrending, aud the wholesale butchery of the unfortunate Bulgarians calls for the sympathy of every kindly heart, but so also should every well-wisher sympathise with the sick, suffering, and dying of our own community. How many are the miseries and wretchednesses through a neglect of ourselves which are constantly being witnessed and experienced, and which could have been averted by the timely aid of the Medicinal Art, aud if those who have been benefitted I by the use of Ghollah's Great Indian Cores would recommend them to others who are suffering the tortures and miseries of Rheumatism, Rheumatic Gout, Liver Complaints, Biliousness, Sick Headaches, Gout, &c m the like manner to testimonials so frequently published by the Proprietor, and one of which is now appended, au amount of kindness and sympathy would be exerted to influence the poor sufferers to use these Indian Medicines for the restoration of their health, and the saving of mauy a valuable life for the benefit of mankind generally, but more particularly for the immediate family circle — j Testimonial Referred To. m t.
