Dunedin, Thurad*y. The arbitration case re the Western Railway, iv which Mr Prou 'foot claimed £ 100.000 , was settled yesterday, the award beiog £71,559.
As a meeting of the Fire Brigade last m^ht, it was resolved that the Secrotary should forward a letter to Superintendent Whiteford, of Wellington, requesting to know when would be a convenient time for running off for the Cup won at the late B^larat demonstration, as it had been arranged by the two tetms while at Ballaru that whichever team won 'the toss, and afterwards a prize, the same should bo ruu off for in New Zealand.
