The Countees of Kintore, in command ' of our old friend Captain Petherbridge, arrived at Auckland, after a very quick passajre of 95 days, on the 7th inst. The hrigantine Emulous, which was tele- i .graphed as being weatherbound at the Wellington Heads, has proceeded to Otago. I She brings 53 passengers from Halifax, ! Nova Scotia, and the vessel is owned by the captain «ud 11 others, all onboard wifch their wives nud fa'niii«s, who come out to settle in New Zealand. They informed the pilot, who was detained on hoard three days by the strong N.W. gales, that when they left home they were not bound to any particular port in New Zealand, and on the voyage decided in favor of Wellington ; but, after lying so long at the Heads, they altered their minds, and sailed for Otago at 9 p.m., on Thursday. They had a very fair passage of 103 days to the Heads. The ship True Briton, from Melbourne -to London, has taken a large quantity of ' •colonial butter for sale in fche Londou market. This is the first shipment ot the kind ever made from Melbourne, and until recendy butter was imported into Melbourne from Cork. A Melbourne telegram states that Bafavian papers of the 21st October say thafc the notorious swiudler, Count Atten. had arrived at Sourabayn, from Australia, in his yacht; but, from information received, the -authorities were on the alert, and sus* pecting tbat the bill of exchange passed "was fraudulent, placed him in custody pending inquiries. Mr Ambrose Kyte, of Melbourne, is"' aged 46. His affairs were in an unsatisfactory condition, which is supposed J $» bare hastened his death.
