IN REPLY TO HARTLEY.
Sir, —I am pleased to sec through E. Hartley's letter that his intention was not against Christianity, but against churcliianity. Ho says lie doubts it being historical. Weil, that is all right; if a man has a doubt lie is open to reason and may be led to sea the truth. 1 will say of friend Hartley, I admire him for throwing out churchianity rather than serve a thing ho does not believe in. However, I am not a follower or any archdeacon or bishop or any other except Christ and His teachings, whether those individuals like it or"not. At least that is my desire, even if J do Jail .short. ') he argument Hartley had with some other man is rather out of place. My opinion is that Christ never said he was going to savo the world, but rather the world i 3 going fast to destruction. But all Christians, or all that accept Christ's way of salvation, shall he saved — which only stands to reason if we are going to live in the hereafter. J do not think the time is quite ripe for that destruction yet. However, I would like to give a little advice to both Christians and Socialists. I ask Socialists to leave an open door to Christianity as they are not opposed to Socialism and and its principles. And Christians, I ask you to assist Socialism, ac it is part of your beliefs, and docs away with selfishness the same as Christianity. In fnet, if tvas accepted by the masses, Socialism would be in existence. Hut please kw|> atheism out of your valuable- paper. Those, who want it can buy any hook on that subject.— I am, etc!, JOSEPH JKWATICR, Christian Socialist. [[ like Bowater'e straightforward-: neee, bub wonder what his friends will e»y about "Christ nwer said Hβ was] mmet tf» HH th« world." M»» I rft-
mind friend B. that the parsons everywhere aro attacking Socialism, and we must reply to tho Kodwuods, etc. '"Keep atheism out of the paper." Why, Bnwator, another man writes: "Keep such silly nonscn.se as that written by -out of the paper." He has the same right to his opinion as you, friend R. -K.H.]
