Dannevirke Athletic Meeting
The usual Wednesday evening athletic meeting was held on the Dannevirko domain oval in fine weather. Thero was again an excellent attendance of competitors and public, which augurs well for the resuscitation of the club's annual sports meeting to be held on Saturday afternoon, February 13. Times in the sprints were assisted by a strong following breeze. Men's 75 yards.—B. Thompson (15) I, J. Harper (13) 2, J. Silvester (9) 3. No time taken. Inches between first four. Men's 100 yards.—J. Harper (16) 1, J. Silvester (12) 2, B. Thompson (17) 3. Won by inches. Time, 9 3-ssecs. Men's 440 yards.—J. Silvester (38) 1, J. Mclntyre (30) 2, J. Thompson (44) 3. Won by two yards. Time, 50secs. Women's 75 yards.—M. Kell (144) 1; S. Mclntyre (14) 2, M. Donaldson (8) 3. Won by one yard. Time, 8 2-ssecs. Women’s 100 yards.—M. Kell (17) 1, M. Donaldson (9) 2, S. Mclntyre (16) 3. Won by half a yard. Time, 11 2-ssecs. Quarter-mile cycle.—W. Hickey (50) 1, A. Strother (40) 2, W. Hansen (20) 3. Won by half a length. Time 33 2-ssecs.
