Rough Seas and Floods in Britain

(British Official Wireless). RUGBY, Jan. 21. Owing to rough seas following a gale during the night, the homeward-bound P. and O. liner Strathaird, from Australia and India, could not put into Plymouth to-day. She went on direct to Tilbury. The Aberdeen lifeboat put out late this afternoon in response to an BOS call from the Aberdeen trawler Strathebrie. The lifeboat is faced with an eight-hours’ journey in heavy seas before she can reach the trawler. On land floods are reported from the Midlands and the West Country, and snow is lying in many parts.
