At a meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa and Buahine Aero Club the flying figures showed a very satisfactory increase for the moifth as compared with December the previous year, the increase being over 100 per cent, and the bringing the total for the quarter ending December 31 to 80 hours 55 minutes in excess of that for the corresponding quarter the previous year. Four pupils carried out their first solo flights during the month, three pupils obtained their A licenses and two pupils their endorsed A licenses. Thirtyseven cross-country flights were made during the month. The statement that more woman and children were employed in milking sheds in New Zealand at the present time than ever before was made at a meeting of the Dominion executive of the Farmers' Union, according to Mr. Lloyd Hammond, president of the group that includes Southern Hawke's Bay, who addressed the monthly meeting of the &.H.B. provincial executive on Thursday. Messrs. Mellsop and Furniss, Auckland delegates, had made the statement and had added that such was particularly the case in Auckland. Memmere remarked that in other districts also many women and children had to work in the milking sheds. Outstanding at the weekly Stortford Lodge stock sale was an exceptional line of two-tooth wethers, offered on account of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club. The appearance of these wethers was certainly a tribute to the excellent manner in which they had been farmed, and they were worth the money paid compared with the values realised for some of the other lines. It is a long time since the equal of these young wethers has been seen in the yards.
