DAVIS CUP TEAM

EIGHT NAMED IN QUEST Eight players have been chosen by the Australian Association’s selection committee, from whom the four players will be taken for this year’s Davis Cup team. They are named in order: A. K. Quist, J. H. Crawford, V. B. McGrath, J. Bromwich, H. C. Hopman, D. P. Turnbull, A. A. Kay, and A. Huxley. Beyond doubt this is the order of precedence justified by recent results. These eight have been asked to say whether they can make the tour. Turnbull has said he is doubtful. The first three are available. Hopman and Kay have stated they can go. Comment has been made in Melbourne that if a manager is chosen one of the younger players, Bromwich or Huxley, may be sent for experience. It is not stated whose is this comment. If official, one hopes that four will be choson entirely on present merit
