MARTON, May 33. Mr G. L. Marshall presided in the absence of the president, Mr R: J. Moore, at the annual meeting of the Marton A. and P. Association. The report . stated that the year concluded with a credit balance of £lll 3s 9d. The election of officers resulted Patrons, Messrs -Edward Newman, C.M.G., and E.‘B. Gordon, M.P.; president, Mr J. A. Caithness; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E. H. Simpson, E. W. Barnett, P. Briant and N. Shelton; hon. treasurer, Mr F. R. H. Brice; general committee, Messrs E. Gudopp, W. Jenkins, J. W. Griffin. Mr D. Gordon was elected the Young Farmers’ Club representative; district representative, Mr A. R. Donaldson (Wanganui). Mr Caithness was appointed to attend a meeting to be hold for the formation of a light horse association.
To date £1134 12s Id has been-received for the Sick and Wounded Fund Appeal in Marton ,and district. . . At a medical board held in Marton, the following'men were examined :• Messrs E. J. McCormack, F. S. Wood, L. H. Knox, H. C. Kidd, F. G. Palmer, 11. H. P. Bending, 11. It. Muir, H. Baines. E. W. 11. Oliver, A. Cameron, 11. A. Winchcombe, A. T. Johnston, J. A. Riches, H. W. Walsh, G. F. Hutton, and J. A. Graham. Constable L. W. Yardley, of Palmerston North, ie relieving Constable J. Bowman, who iis on leave, at the Marton police station. ~
