MOUNTED RIFLES.
Evidence that the youth of the town and district are taking a more active interest in the Territorial movement was afforded at the fortnightly parade, this week, of the Woodville troop of the Wellington-East Coast Mounted Rifles, when five more new recruits paraded, making a total of nine enlistments for the past month. Good progress is being maintained in the troop’s work and an encouraging standard of efficiency is being shown. Squad drill at the parade was taken by Corporals D. A. Wareham and McIntyre. Lance-Corporal A. Compton, under the supervision of Sergeant D. Baker and Sergeant-Major T. O’Brien. A feature of the instruction was a practice rifle shoot over 25 yards.
