GOLF WIDOWHOOD.

PLAYERS’ COMMENTS. “It is useless trying to revive an 11-year-old romance,” said Walter Hagen, the well-known American golfer, to a representative of the Daily Mail, on his arrival in London. He was discussing his wife’s plea that he had made her a “golf widow.” on which ground she obtained a divorce. “If you want a divorce, your must have reasons,” i\e declared. “Golf widowhood sounds as good as any. We have been parted for 10 years. I do not know what she has been doing, but she was crazy about golf when we were married. I do not believe in golf widows, any more than in bridge widows, aeroplane widows, or table tennis widows. What is there to stop a wife going to a golf club with her husband and playing bridge while he goes round?” .Toe Kirkwood, another famous golfer, who is staying with Hagen, joined in the conversation and .said: “The trouble is that women do not get on together like men. who are happy almost anywhere. Women do not mix well. They want cocktail bars, with a heap of men coming in.”
