TRAGEDY OF NEGLECT.
VERDICT OF WILFUL MURDER. LONDON, April 22. The inquest on the murdered girl. Grace Blukaller, was resumed. Deceased’s sister said she wished to correct her previous statement that deceased was John, Blakallcr’s youngest daughter. She was Mrs Blakaller’e illegitimate daughter, born after Blakaller’s death. Mrs Blakaller admitted that Grace was born six or seven years after her first husband’s death. Mrs Jones gave evidence that Grace was the daughter of her husband, who died a decade ago. She was separated from her husband four years preceding Grace’s birth. s The Coroner, summing up, said that the case threw a peculiar light on the social conditions of certain classes, perhaps of all classes of the modern daye. It was a tragedy of parental neglect and exhibited in an extreme' character what was called the emancipation of the sexes.
He returned a verdict of “wilful murder by Ernest Rhodes.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
