MANAWATU HUNT.
OUTING AT AWAPUNI.
The Manawatu Hunt assembled yesterday afternoon at the Kennels, Awapuni, when Juu'O liunting was indulged in. The hounds worked well all the afternoon, but harea proved scarce. Soveral were put up, but there was too much cover and they escaped. However. an enjoyable two hours were spent, followed by a good round over the schooling jumps at the kennels.
Among those in the saddle were : Messrs L. H. Collinson (master) on Punjaub; J. Sexton (huntsman) Chautauqua; Master Rod Sexton (hon. whip) Patience; Miss Phyllis Davison, Ave; Mrs Sutton, Gaekwnr; Mrs Meade, Glenkins; Miss Meade, Flight; Miss Katherine Meade, Skipper; Miss Phyllis Meade, Diogenes; Messrs M. E. Wood, a bay ; W. Scott, Kaika; R. H. Meade, Red Light; W. Hill, Emperor; F. Edmonds, Peggy O’Neil; J. Doreen, Coker’s Prince; W. W. Andrews, Roany; R. Emmett, a chestnut; M. J. Holloway, Hesitate; B. Tugner, Adrose; L. Turner, Lady Sarto. At the conclusion an adjournment was made to the kennels, where Mrs Sexton and lady friends dispensed afternoon tea. Mr L. H. Collinson, in moving a vote of thanks to their hostesses, and to the property owners, said that Mr Sexton and their young honorary whip also deserved their thanks for providing them with a good afternoon’s sport. The vote was carried with cheers.
There will be no hunt next Saturday, but the following Wednesday the hounds will meet at Aokautore.
