Officials for the next race meeting were appointed as follows: Jud^e, Mr W. H. Hartgill; starter,MrT. Cameron; timekeeper,. Mr R. Stevens; clerk of scales, Mr H. Fraser; clerk of course, Mr. H. Hart; clerk'of totalisator, MrG. b. Kurnble; honorary surgeon, Dr. Graham.
The appointment of Mr J. E. Henrys as handicapper was confirmed.' The following programme, as drawn up by the Programme Committee, was adopted:—
Trial Hurdles of 120 soys; Ist, 75 soys; 2nd, 30 soys; 3rd, 15 soys. Distance, 1-i- miles. Hying Handicap of 130 soys; Ist. 75 soys; 2nd, 35 soys; 3rd, 20 soys. Distance, six furlongs.. Ashhurst Guineas, of 100 guineas • Ist, 70 gns.; 2nd, 20 gns.; 3rd, 10 gns. Distance, seven furlongs. . . . , Ashhurst Cup of 150 soys; Ist, 79 soys; 2nd, 45 soys ; 3rd, 26 soys. Distance, 1% miles.
•Mauawatu Gorge Handicap of 125 soys; Ist, 75 soys; 2nd, 35 soys; 3rd, 15 soys. Distance, seven furlong. Komako Welter Handicap of 130 soys; Ist, 75 soys; 2nd, 35 soys; 3rd, 20 soys. Distance, 1 mile. ■
Maiden Scurry of 110 soys;. Ist, 70 soys ; 2nd, 25 soys; 3rd, 15 soys. Distance, five furlongs. Pohangina Handicap of 180 soys ; Ist, 75 soys; 2nd, 35 soys; 3rd, 20 soys. Distance, one mile and a distance. It was decided to insert the programme in the local papers and leading papers in the adjacent districts.
It was reported by the Building Committee that the contractor had the new buildings well in hand and that the whole of the appointments would be in first-class . order for the forthcoming meeting. , °
It was resolved to engage Mr J. Ames to work the totalisator. ■• . '
Messrs C. Hayns, J. Bagnall, O. Thessmau, E. Collins and B. Halford were elected members of the Club, and accounts .totalling £10 lls 6d were passed for payment.
The thoroughbred horse Sou'wester, sire o£ many noted performers both on the flat and over country, was found dead in his box on Tuesday morning. Sou'wester was over 23 years old.
