Recent Fighting.
(Received September 24, at 8.40 a.m.). LONDON, Sept. 23. A Japanese official telegram claims that the Japanese defeated the Russians on the 20th inst., taking Santungku, 60 miles north-east of Liaoyang, and driving them northward. It is.also claimed that they repulsed a strong reconnaissance on the 18th inst. thirty miles north-east of Liaoyang, and that the Russians lost heavily owing to their retreating in close formation.
