MARLBOROUGH RACING CLUB

A meeting of the Marlborough Racing Club committee was held yesterday, when the programme for the next autumn meeting was passed. The club has added a further £60 to tho stakes, making the total now £1560. Thia is distinctly a progressive step, but it has been further venturesome and made eveiy hack handicap of a value of £100. The total increase in the liack races is £145, and tins should attract not only larger entries, but a better class of horses. In order to provide for this increase the cup has been reduced •by £50, the Flying Handicap by £10, and the President's Handicap by £25. There are seven races each day, and it is generally considered that the programme should attract better 'entries than the club has ever had, and the meeting should probably prove a record one. Mr Bernard Ward was appointed judge in place of Mr B. Coleman, who has resigned owing to his leaving the- district.
