and specifications to the Public Works Department. The Chairman said the amount, would do the work and the Council had no option but to carry it out. Mr F. A. Powell asked for permission to erect a gate on the upper end of Pretoria road, Shannon, which was only used by him and other settlers bounding on the road, who were all agreeable to the erection of the gate. The request was granted under the usual conditions. Accounts were passed as follows :Loan account, £465 lis 3d; general, £1366; interest, £100; total, £1931 14s 9d.
