A report has been received from Afghanistan that the northern Ghelz-ii tribes have revolted against the authority of the Ameer of Cabul, and succeeded in holding the Afghan troops in check. It is also reported that the Ameer has been obliged to take tho field in order to quell the rebellion. (Received November 3, 1.30 p.m. Port Louis, November 2. It is rumoured that Sir John Pope Hennessy, Governor of Mauritius, will be appointed to succeed Sir George Strahan as Governor of Tasmania.
