(Received October 20, 10.10 p.m.) Sydney, October 20. Caffrey, Penn, and Lizzie Graham, charged with the Barrier Island murder, were again brought up at the Police Court and remanded to Auckland. The festivities in connection with the Municipal Jubilee will be concluded to-morrow. Melbourne, October 20. The steamship Tarawera sailed this afternoon. (Received October 21, 1 p.m.) October 21. Derharo, Postmaster-General, in replying to the proposal of Subtor, Posb-master-General of New South Wales, that Victoria should contribute to the subsidy for the New Zealand cable, stated that the Victorian Government declined to contribute except on a Federal basis which should include all cables connecting with Australia. Several persons have left Melbourne for the Waukaringa goldfields. (Received October 21, 1 a.m.) Adelaide, October 20. Considerable excitement has arisen here over the discovery of gold at Wankaringa. A large number of men have left for and are still proceeding to the field. Many miners have also been attracted from Wallaroo and Moonta. (Received October 21, 1 p.m.) October 21, Hundreds of persons are leaving Adelaide for the Waukaringa goldfields. The Government geologist reports that gold is distributed generally over the field.
